iCorrVision-2D: An integrated python-based open-source Digital Image Correlation software for in-plane measurements (Part 1)

Abstract The main purpose of this work is to present a new fully-customizable out-of-the-box open-source 2D Digital Image Correlation (2D-DIC) software, so-called iCorrVision-2D. It implemented in Python, including image acquisition (grabber), numerical correlation and post-processing modules. proposed software has an intuitive graphical user interface support selecting all parameters, calibration region interest. iCorrVision-2D stands out over other projects due the great number functionalities control important inputs, such as domain, approach (spatial incremental) matching criterion, displacement filtering, interpolation techniques, strain window reconstruction shape functions. Results demonstrate that robust can be used measure full-field displacements strains with satisfactory accuracy precision. For out-of-plane measurements, iCorrVision-3D will presented Part 2 (iCorrVision-3D, SoftwareX, 2022).
